A mom in Clovis East was accused of stealing $40,000 dollars from the school’s fundraising, Timberwolf Foundation. Kristie Dameron, who volunteered with the group, went to the Clovis Police Department and turned herself in on May 3rd. The Police arrested her, but she was soon released on a $5,000 bail.

Dameron was charged with embezzlement and grand theft by embezzlement on May 9th, what may end up with a three-year sentence in the state prison, the maximum penalty for those felonies. The woman is accused of stealing thousands from the Sunday-night bingo during four years.

The purpose of this bingo is to raise funds for extracurricular activities at the school. The foundation, which is run by school parents, collects about $100,000 dollars a year to be spent on school trips, sports uniforms, etc. Most of the funds come from the weekly bingos, held at the Clovis Hall, located on Bullard Av.

The Foundation president did not comment on the procedures for taking the money or the security measures to be taken from now on. Despite the incident, she assured that the foundation will be able to cover the school needs for this year and beyond.
