It's been just over three months since the sad death of POPE JOHN PAUL II, who died at the age of 84 in April after more than 20 years as the head of the Catholic church. Now, the Hallmark Channel is going to task as they tell the story of the late KAROL WOJTYLA in a new TV movie.

"Karol: A Man Who Became Pope," airing Monday, August 15, is the true story of the late Pope, who actually viewed the film before his death. It begins with him as a young boy who resisted the Nazi occupation and whose faith guided him to papacy.

The movie was filmed on location in Krakow, Poland as well as the Vatican City. It features an international cast of PIOTR ADAMCZYK, who plays the Pope; MALGORZATA BELA as Hania, the woman he cared for; and MATT CRAVEN as Nazi General HANS FRANK.

Pope John Paul II served more than 26 years until his death this year. His papacy is the third longest period of service.
